Agricultural Production

At REPSA we do palm cultivation and production, meeting the highest quality and sustainability standards.

We have implemented in our practical and technological operations to mitigate the environmental impact in palm cultivation, a System for the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) focused on the prevention of the increase of harmful populations to the crop, having as a result reduced pesticide use.

The IPM from REPSA, reference in the palm sector of the country, is a system of crop protection oriented to keep pests at non harming levels for the plantation, preferably using natural factors, or its derivations for pest management. Among these factors, there are resistant varieties, biological control agents, agronomic cultural practices, physical and mechanical measures, and the use of stimuli that determine insect behavior such as repellents and/or attractants, along with other practices.

We have a Plant Nutrition Plan that seeks the use of mineral fertilizers in a responsible manner towards the environment while remaining economically viable.

This plan establishes, by means of soil and plant laboratory analyses, the calculation of requirements and necessary procedures so that the fertilizer applied meets the palm productive needs.

Our fertilization plan includes the use of byproducts generated from the process in the mill plant, using rachis and ashes, and applying them in the plantations while incorporating organic matter and emulsifiers to the soil. These practices are aligned with the vision of being environmentally sustainable and with occupational health care of field operators.

These practices, along with all mitigation measures implemented in our agricultural production, are collected in Environmental Documents presented and authorized by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Guatemala.
