The good environmental practices that we practice in Grupo HAME have led us to implement specific methods to make efficient and rational use of resources in both agricultural and industrial processes. This responsibility has led us to identify the points where we can contribute to the environment, so we have been consistent in our search for sustainable development. In this way we guarantee the quality of life of present and future generations.
Clean energies
We have implemented a fuel saving strategy in production and harvest activities, for palm. Other measures such as turning off the light when it is not in use or resorting to natural light have been the first steps implemented which, together with the agricultural and machinery maintenance program throughout the production chain, have achieved significant electricity savings. We also use the bagasse from palm bunches as a biofuel for the boiler that generates electricity in the processing plants. Another avant-garde method is the use of energy generated by biogas, which has allowed a 50% reduction in the consumption of irrigation motors. We are also implementing this fuel in the banana packing plants. These measures are called clean energy.
Plastic
In planting palm, it is necessary to use plastic. Bags, pitas, and other plastic elements are the inputs that are continuously collected on the farms to send them to a recycler. In this company, they take the waste from pita and plastic bag to turn them into plastic chairs and tables. Along with this effort, it is not necessary to collect and stock PET containers, so popular in people’s daily consumption.

Agrochemicals
Agrochemicals have been almost totally eradicated thanks to a study that allowed analyzing the nutrient content in the soil for the preparation of a fertilization program. In this way we have managed to find the most accurate method to guarantee greater productivity. Another essential monitoring has been that of pests and diseases so that they can be combated from their identification with natural methods so as not to resort to pesticides.
