Community Relations

Productive activities that we perform are focused on the respect for our environment, prioritizing people living in neighboring communities. Therefore, at REPSA, beyond being the largest employer of the department of Petén, we work hand in hand with communities, local government, NGO´s, academia, and other actors involved in the development of our neighbors and their environment.

We work under the premise to generate economic, social, and environmental value for Guatemala, and this principle is the one that leads to propose and implement projects of sustainable development in the area where we operate. Committed with joint work and coordination with neighboring communities, we have a Community Relations department to know, develop, and implement initiatives and programs of community interest.

Environmental Agricultural

Field School (ECA)

At the ECA we provide training to men and mainly women endowing them with knowledge and tools that directly improve their quality of life and that of their families.

People who approach the ECA can strengthen their knowledge in:

Backyard gardening

We give practical teaching to sow and harvest food such as: cassava, sweet potato, pineapple, plantain, papaya, Jamaica (Hibiscus), among others, to ensure availability of nutritious food in households. Through the training in backyard gardening we seek that people cover their food requirements and have the option to generate new incomes for their household.

This program is oriented to Q´eqchí women of the neighboring communities, who are trained as promotors and have the mission to share knowledge in their communities so that more people can make use of it.

Breeding of Minor Species

At the ECA we also provide livestock trainings for breeding and reproduction of backyard animals with the same system of promotors who disseminate knowledge to other people of their communities.

Savings groups

At the ECA we promote the formation of savings groups through training in a methodology that sensitizes about its importance, responsible management of resources and investment to improve their life conditions.

Agroforestry Systems
